Would you like to improve your comfort level with bicycling in traffic, maintaining your bicycle, or biking for recreation? Below is information about local classes for both adults and children.
Typically offered in the spring and early summer, these courses give bicyclists the confidence they need to ride safely and legally in traffic or on the trail. Courses may also cover bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat, on-bike skills, crash avoidance techniques, and include a student manual.
- REI regularly offers a free Bike Maintenance Basics class twice each month in early spring/summer.
- The Salt Lake Bicycle Collective offers many free Bicycle Mechanic Classes.

Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective
The Bicycle Collective teaches bicycle maintenance, leads youth mountain biking programs and provides contact information for instructors certified to teach traffic skills for bicyclists.

Granite Peaks Lifelong Learning
In partnership with the Salt Lake City Bicycle Collective, Granite Peaks Lifelong Learning regularly provides summer community education courses on bike safety, as well as Earn-a-Bike programs for youth. For the first time last year, Granite Peaks offered an immensely popular bicycle frame-building course.
